Network Diary – Network Version of Acute Software's Diary
Review by on
If you want to keep a diary, there are two options at your disposal: the old school method, and the software method. The old school method involves you getting a pen and a traditional paperback diary. This is the method that has been used for ages, by people who have never even seen a computer.

Then there’s the software way, which involves putting your computer to good use. Simply select the right piece of software, and keep a diary on your computer. The right piece of software in this situation is Acute Software’s Diary, an application that we’ve reviewed here before.

Thanks to this application you can do the following:
- Jot down notes, events, appointments, websites, things to do, reminders, and anything else you want.
- Set up reminders for important events.
- Visual and audio notifications for the reminders you set up; these notifications will be presented to you even if the Diary is not up and running.
- Automatically records what you do on while using the computer.
- A monthly calendar is displayed in the upper left hand side of the screen.

Acute Software offers one other version of this diary application – Network Diary. This is simply the multi-user version of Acute Software’s Diary. It offers the same functionality as Acute Software’s Diary does, just that it offers it to several users. Each user can keep their own appointments, file usage and PC usage on their own PC. Each user can share information with other users on the network.

Before you go get Acute Software’s Diary, take a look at these technical bits and pieces:
Download – the download weighs in at less 2.5MB, which means it will only take a moment to get the application off the web and onto your computer. Installation – according to the application’s developer, at the time of writing this, Network Diary supports the following Windows versions: 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, or XP.
Limitations – Network Diary is free to try, meaning you can use it free of charge only during a trial period of 30 days.

Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Lightweight download size
  • Reminders with notifications
  • Multiple users
  • Share info

Cons
  • Free to try (30-day trial)
